The Lord had been good to me, says Ndelu

Defence, Justice and Security minister Dikgakgamatso Seretse counted his blessings in front of multitudes on Sunday when he officially opened the Silver Jubilee celebrations for Bible Life Ministries in Extension 19, Gaborone.

“This year the Lord has been good to me, I believe in the absence of him I doubt we would ever be successful in any endeavours,” he said as he exalted the virtue of constant fellowship with God Almighty. Further the minister admitted that he had come to know and understand that the church is an essential cornerstone in the making of any society. Telling the story through the country’s economic prism, he said Botswana had been equally devastated by the global recession. “Some of us thought Botswana would be able to weather the storm, but it is apparent that we are not as immune as we thought,” he said urging government to evaluate and re-evaluate plans it had for the people.

“We are simply unable to build health facilities or security structures such as police stations or even augment significantly services we already provide.” He said what the government is currently doing is proving only the basic needs required to preserve life, which is far below the country’s targets. He said he shared these concerns to highlight that as members of Bible Life Ministries and fellow christians their work has been cut out for them. “Surely the needy and destitute will need you even more, even your intervention on moral decay which is often pronounced during tough times.

” Bible Life Pastor Tshegofatso Setima said 25 years ago the church only started with 10 members and without any place to worship, today the church has grown to countless members through the glory of God.” She said Bible Life has been active in supporting the community as it has built houses for the needy, assisted the department of prisons, provided shelter for orphans in Bokaa as well as train leaders through the leadership conversion, whose beneficiaries include area Member of Parliament and leader of Botswana Congress Party, Ddumelang Saleshando who was also in attendance on Sunday.
