Tinubu Pledges Ongoing Support for Infrastructure Projects in Federal Capital Territory

Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has pledged his administration’s continued support to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, to continue delivering life-impacting projects in the territory. Tinubu made the pledge while inaugurating the newly constructed Collector Road CN-8 (Asuquo Okon Street) and other connected roads in Dakibiyu District.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the road stretches from Arterial Road N-5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) in Jabi District to the Arterial Road N-1 (Olushegun Obasanjo Way) in Dakibiyu District. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu affirmed his administration’s steadfast support for the FCT Administration, commending Wike’s known urgency in executing projects. Tinubu emphasized the importance of a capital that reflects the strength and dignity of its residents, and committed to providing resources, policy backing, and institutional cooperation for timely and high-standard project delivery.

The President highlighted the significance of modernizing cities as a testament to a government’s seriousness. He noted that functional infrastructure signals purposeful governance and is essential for inspiring confidence, attracting investment, and restoring citizens’ dignity. He reiterated that the commissioning of roads signifies a commitment to connectivity and progress, ensuring that a functioning capital supports a functioning nation.

Tinubu addressed the long-standing infrastructure inadequacies in Dakibiyu District, asserting that the new roads will invigorate communities and enhance livelihoods. He highlighted that the project’s benefits include flourishing communities, reduced congestion, thriving markets, and improved emergency services. The President emphasized that infrastructure development is a practical realization of the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, aiming for a more inclusive and equitable Nigeria.

In his remarks, Wike expressed gratitude to the Tinubu-led Federal Executive Council for approving the project, which began in October 2024. He underscored the necessity of the project due to the poor condition of roads leading to government institutions in the area. Similarly, FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, praised the transformation brought by Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ citing the project as further evidence of his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and urban growth.
