UGANDA BOAT TRAGEDY: WRECKAGE RETRIEVED, NO BODY FOUND

KAMPALA– There has not been any body recovered underneath the wreckage as earlier anticipated and the search has been suspended.

After a number of attempts, the Police and UPDF marine units have finally pulled the boat wreckage out of the water, concluding day five.

However, there has not been any body recovered underneath the wreckage as earlier anticipated and search has been suspended to tomorrow.

A joint operation by Police and UPDF marines and locals managed to recover 32 bodies and rescue 26 people, including Prince David Wasajja of Buganda and musician Iryn Namubiru after the boat they were travelling in capsized along Lake Victoria on Saturday.

It is not known how many people were on the vessel, but witnesses say there could have been more than 100 people on board and the search continues to find a number of those still missing.
