Women Teams Critical to Football Growth

Central South Region affiliates have been called upon to start women football teams next season.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the FIFA accredited administration and management course in Mahalapye recently, the National Executive Committee member, Senki Sesinyi, said women football teams were concentrated in Gaborone hence the need for every team to form its women’s squad.

Every team which forms a women football team he said will get a free football kit, boots and balls.

On other issues he said together with Central South Region Football Association (CSRFA) chairperson Kaizer Sekaba they have finally managed to secure a sponsorship for the seven-team CSRFA league and details will be made public after everything has been finalized.

For his part the chairperson of Mahalapye Referees Association Thapelo Lefu said the refereeing fraternity is open for women as well. He called on affiliates to encourage athletic women who are passionate about football to try their luck in match officiating.

At the end of the course, CSRFA region made resolutions to update their constitutions, focus on youth football development and start a women football league next season.

Affiliates were drilled on financial management, marketing, club management and communication.
