ACPN Declares October ‘Pharmacy Rx Emblem Month’ to Enhance Trust in Community Pharmacies

Abuja: The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) has officially declared October as ‘Pharmacy Rx Emblem Month,’ with the aim of promoting public trust in community pharmacies and highlighting their critical role in healthcare delivery.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, ACPN National Chairman, Mr. Ezeh Igwekamma, announced the initiative in Abuja, emphasizing the Rx emblem as a globally recognized symbol of trust, professionalism, and healing. This month-long dedication is intended to position community pharmacies as reliable sanctuaries where patients can confidently obtain genuine medicines, professional pharmaceutical care, and comprehensive healthcare services.

Mr. Igwekamma pointed out that the initiative extends beyond mere symbolic recognition, underscoring the essential function of community pharmacists in safeguarding public health and promoting wellness in neighborhoods across the country. In a time when counterfeit and substandard medicines pose significant threats to lives, the Rx emblem serves as a beacon of assurance and authenticity, directing patients towards quality healthcare.

The month-long celebration aims to raise public awareness that pharmacies displaying the Rx emblem are trusted centers for patient care, chronic disease management, preventive services, and wellness support. Mr. Igwekamma highlighted the multifaceted role of community pharmacies, noting that they serve not just as dispensing outlets, but as vital health hubs offering expert guidance, safe medication use, preventive care, and an attentive ear to patients.
