County to Boost Cooperative Societies Through Strategic Partnerships

Nairobi: Uasin Gishu County Administration has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the growth of cooperative societies by strengthening collaborations with development partners and private sector players. Speaking during a special general meeting of Kuona Mbele Cooperative Society in Ainabkoi Sub-County, Cooperatives Officer Festus Cheptumo said the county remained dedicated to supporting initiatives that uplift farmers, enhance cooperative governance, and drive economic empowerment.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kuona Mbele Cooperative Society is on the verge of finalizing a landmark agreement with agriBora, a leading agribusiness firm. Under the deal, the cooperative will lease out its store, with proceeds channeled towards completing and renovating its warehouse to better serve members. The partnership is expected to revolutionize grain handling in the region by promoting structured grain trade, reducing post-harvest losses, and improving farmer incomes.

Through agriBora’s innovative agriGHALA platform, farmers will also benefit from secure storage, stronger market linkages, and greater resilience against fluctuating prices. Cheptumo urged cooperative members and the wider farming community to embrace this opportunity by actively using agriGHALA services, stressing that such partnerships were key to unlocking the full potential of Uasin Gishu as Kenya’s food basket. ‘This partnership is more than just an agreement; it is a gateway to prosperity for our farmers and the entire community,’ he emphasized.

Kuona Mbele Cooperative members lauded the county administration’s support through AgriGHALA services aimed at maximizing profitability of their farm produce.
