Calabar: Mr. Peter Akpanke (PDP-Cross River) has praised the performance of Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu over the past two years, expressing support for their aspirations for a second term. Akpanke, who represents Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made these remarks during a press conference held by the Cross River APC caucus in the National Assembly.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Senator Williams Eteng, the chairman of the caucus, highlighted that the early endorsements were intended to allow both the governor and the president to focus on governance. Eteng emphasized that both leaders have demonstrated effective governance at the state and federal levels and require collective support to continue their efforts.
Eteng stated, “We are here to endorse our governor and our president. Our governor has done well and deserves our accolades. Mr. President has also demonstrated commendable leadership, particularly with the Lagos-Calabar coastal road and other ongoing projects.”
He further mentioned the significant reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry under President Tinubu’s leadership, advocating for his sole candidacy in the upcoming election. Similarly, Eteng commended Governor Otu’s developmental initiatives across the 18 local government areas, citing completed and ongoing projects as evidence of his effective governance.
Senator Eteng concluded by asserting that the transformation witnessed under Governor Otu’s administration is a testament to his capability, urging continued support for both the governor and his deputy. The endorsement reflects confidence in their ability to further develop Cross River and Nigeria as attractive investment destinations.
