DEPOWA President Commends Frontline Troops at Wellness Event

Abuja: Mrs Oghogho Musa, President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), has praised frontline troops for their sacrifices and dedication to national security, reaffirming the association’s unwavering support during a Fitness and Wellness Session, tagged ‘DEPOWA Dance Aerobics Exercise’ in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Musa extended a special message of appreciation to members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria deployed in various theaters of operation. She emphasized that the event is part of DEPOWA’s one-year campaign to honor troops, aiming to promote morale, celebrate sacrifices, and enhance family support networks within the military community. ‘On behalf of DEPOWA and our sister associations, we send this heartfelt message to our heroes: We see you, we salute you, and we thank you,’ she stated, expressing gratitude for their vigilance and commitment to national security.

The DEPOWA President prayed for continued divine protection for officers and men of the armed forces, urging them to remain steadfast until lasting peace is achieved nationwide. She reaffirmed the association’s commitment to sustaining welfare activities and morale-boosting programs for military families.

Turning to the fitness segment of the program, Musa applauded DEPOWA members for their enthusiasm and progress since the initiative commenced earlier in the year. She encouraged members to prioritize fitness, nutrition, and mental well-being as part of their service to their families and communities, viewing exercise as an investment in long-term health and productivity.

Musa highlighted the importance of nutrition in maintaining health, advising members to adopt balanced diets. ‘According to her, nutrition is 70 per cent, while exercise is 30 per cent,’ she mentioned, urging women to make healthier food choices and avoid carbonated drinks. The DEPOWA events deliberately serve fruits, fresh juices, and water to reinforce the message of healthy living.

She concluded by emphasizing that consistent exercise and a proper diet contribute to emotional stability and family harmony, stating, ‘A healthy woman is a happy woman; and a happy, healthy woman builds a strong, productive family and nation.’

The session also featured medical check-ups and wellness assessments for participants, aimed at tracking improvements in blood pressure, stamina, and general well-being. The DEPOWA Fitness and Wellness program, introduced under Mrs. Musa’s leadership, seeks to promote physical health, mental resilience, and family cohesion among wives of military and police personnel.
