Kaduna: The President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Musa, on Saturday provided consumables and relief items to soldiers who are sick and wounded at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna. Musa emphasized that the sacrifices made by these soldiers for the nation would not be overlooked, noting that she had previously visited them in 2023.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Musa mentioned that this was her second visit to the hospital and expressed her commitment to continue visiting. She highlighted the importance of such visits for the soldiers, some of whom have been hospitalized for as long as ten years. These soldiers, Musa noted, deserve encouragement and support as they have served the nation, enabling others to live freely and safely.
Musa urged DEPOWA members to visit the soldiers not just as part of the association but also as individuals, offering prayers and any form of support they can. She acknowledged that many of the soldiers are married and emphasized the need for ongoing visits and support.
Brig.-Gen. Godwin Ogoh, the acting Chief Medical Director of the 44 Army Hospital, expressed gratitude to DEPOWA for their humanitarian efforts. He noted that the wounded soldiers, who were brought from the North-East and North-West regions, have been pivotal in maintaining the nation’s unity and security. He assured that the hospital would continue to provide the best possible care for their recovery.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the donated items included consumables, blankets, detergents, toiletries, and cash, among other necessities.
