Benin: The Edo Government has announced the commencement of profiling for property owners in the New City Development, previously known as Coral City, starting June 3. Dr. Abdulwasiu Oyakhire, Secretary to the Edo Land Dispute Resolution Committee, revealed the plan for property owners in Lot-A and Lot-B during an announcement in Benin.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the profiling exercise requires plot owners in the designated areas to present their documents between June 3 and June 13, 2025. This initiative follows a directive from Governor Monday Okpebholo aimed at resolving long-standing community land disputes. The profiling will be conducted on-site by relevant government agencies, with additional lots scheduled for future phases.
Property owners are required to bring land documents and surveys. In cases where these are unavailable, accurate coordinates will be accepted with the assistance of surveyors on-site. Governor Okpebholo has engaged with leaders from the Oke-Oroma, Obagie, and Amagba communities to promote peace and ensure accurate land documentation. Stakeholders were encouraged to submit land documents for verification and profiling, with the goal of regularisation and eventual issuance of Certificates of Occupancy.
The governor is committed to restoring peace in the region, fostering an environment where residents and communities can coexist and prosper.
