Kano: The Police Command in Kano has reaffirmed the ban on all forms of Durbar activities throughout the state during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. The decision, which was initially announced during the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festivities, will be strictly enforced.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the command issued a statement, endorsed by sister security agencies, emphasizing the continuation of the ban due to credible intelligence reports. These reports suggest potential plans by miscreants and their sponsors to use the occasion to disrupt public peace and security. The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have implemented security measures to ensure peaceful celebrations across the state.
The statement highlighted that after consultations with security stakeholders and based on available intelligence, the ban on Durbar activities will be strictly enforced. Activities such as horse or animal riding, car racing, reckless driving, unlawful possession or display of firearms, and carrying suspicious objects are prohibited during the festive period.
The command urged parents and guardians to warn their wards against unlawful acts, stating that law enforcement agencies are prepared to enforce the law. The public is also advised to refrain from any conduct that might cause a breach of peace or a breakdown of law and order.
The police command congratulated Muslims and law-abiding residents in anticipation of the celebrations and appealed for peaceful conduct. Residents are encouraged to pray for the peace and prosperity of the state and the nation, and to remember the state’s athletes who lost their lives returning from the National Sports Festival.
