Infrastructural Development in Abuja Sees Monumental Growth Under Tinubu, Says Ortom

Abuja: Former Governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, has expressed his admiration for the massive infrastructural development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under President Bola Tinubu. Ortom made these remarks during a routine inspection of ongoing projects in Abuja, where he accompanied FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ortom noted that he had witnessed several FCT ministers over the years, but this was the first time he observed such monumental progress in the nation’s capital. He expressed pride and gratitude for the accomplishments of his friend and colleague, Nyesom Wike, as the FCT Minister, attributing the development to Tinubu’s leadership. Ortom highlighted the significant changes in the FCT, mentioning that he now needs guidance to navigate the rapidly transforming territory.

Ortom specifically mentioned the newly developed Kugbo and Mabushi Bus Terminals as exemplary projects befitting the nation’s capital. He praised President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ acknowledging its significant impact on Nigerians. Ortom acknowledged the challenges facing the country, including security and economic issues, and urged national unity to support Tinubu’s efforts to overcome these obstacles.

Ortom also commended Tinubu for his non-partisan approach in appointing Nyesom Wike as the FCT Minister, despite Wike’s association with the opposition. He emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships, stressing the need for unity to address national challenges. Ortom appealed to Nigerians to support Tinubu’s reforms aimed at transforming the nation’s economy for sustainable development.

Reflecting on Tinubu’s inclusive leadership style, Ortom pointed out that the President has appointed individuals from various political backgrounds who can contribute to the country’s development. He praised Wike for his performance as FCT Minister and expressed gratitude for his friend’s role in Tinubu’s government, despite not holding any current appointment himself.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ortom previously served as Minister of State Trade and Investments and the supervising Minister of Aviation during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in 2011. He was elected governor of Benue under the APC in 2015 before defecting to the PDP and being re-elected for a second term in 2019.
