Lagos: The Lagos Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, has described the E1 Lagos Grand Prix as a bold statement of the state’s global standing. Speaking at the opening of Africa’s first all-electric powerboat race, Omotoso said the event underscores Lagos’ resilience and readiness to embrace a sustainable future.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the commissioner highlighted that the race is not solely about speed on water but also a scientific demonstration of precision, accuracy, and sustainability. Omotoso emphasized that hosting the E1 Grand Prix positions Lagos on the global map as a hub of creativity, while inspiring youths in the areas of sports and technology.
He further noted that the championship aligns with Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of positioning Lagos as a centre of excellence, innovation, investment, and international partnerships. Omotoso assured stakeholders and spectators of the state government’s full commitment to delivering a world-class experience throughout the event’s duration.
The E1 Lagos Grand Prix, taking place at the Marina waterfront, is part of the international E1 Series, which features electric raceboats in leading cities worldwide.
