Lagos: The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has set an ambitious goal to attract one million visitors to the 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF), significantly boosting economic activities in the region. Mr. Abimbola Olashore, Chairman of the Trade Promotion Board, made this announcement during a news conference in Lagos, as preparations ramp up for the event.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the 39th edition of the annual trade fair is scheduled to take place from November 7 to November 16 at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. Historically, the 10-day fair sees an average attendance of 350,000 visitors and more than 2,000 exhibitors, but this year promises even more significant participation.
Mr. Olashore highlighted that the previous edition included participants from 15 countries, but expectations for this year are higher. The LCCI’s strategic marketing efforts, including a social media campaign launched in April, aim to meet the ambitious target of one million visitors. He also detailed the introduction of new professional fairs, such as the African International Chocolate Show Lagos and the International Paper Publishing and Printing Expo.
In addition to these developments, Mr. Olashore announced a collaboration with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to commemorate the regional body’s 50th anniversary during the fair. Since its founding in 1975, ECOWAS has played a pivotal role in regional integration and trade facilitation, making its presence at the fair a significant milestone.
The fair will also feature a variety of activities, including specialised fairs, a children’s corner, a tech hub, Africa hall, the United Asia International Exhibition, Japan External Trade Organisation, and Women’s Day Black Friday, among others. Notably, entry to the fair will be free for all attendees throughout the event’s duration.
Mr. Olashore confirmed that Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, will attend the event, while organisers are awaiting confirmation from President Bola Tinubu to formally open the fair.
