NABTEB Releases Nov/Dec 2024 Exam Results, 67.6 Percent Pass

Benin: The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has unveiled the results for its November/December 2024 certificate examinations, with 67.56 percent of candidates achieving five credits or more.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Nnasia Asanga, announced the results. A total of 44,226 candidates participated in the National Business Certificate/Advanced National Business Certificate (NBC/ANBC) and National Technical Certificate/Advanced National Technical Certificate (NTC/ANTC) exams. Asanga highlighted that 29,880 candidates met the requisite benchmark for academic and career progression.

Out of the total candidates, 29,880 secured five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, translating to 67.56 percent. Moreover, 42,431 candidates, accounting for 95.94 percent, obtained five credits and above regardless of whether they included English and Mathematics.

Asanga noted a decline in performance compared to the previous year, where 71.27 percent of candidates passed with five credits, including English and Mathematics. However, there was a slight increase in candidates achieving five credits or more in subjects excluding English and Mathematics compared to 2023’s 94.93 percent.

A reduction in examination malpractice was reported, with 0.53 percent of candidates involved in such activities, down from 0.57 percent in 2023. Asanga attributed this to NABTEB’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its assessments.

Candidates can check their results and obtain further information on the NABTEB website. The registrar reiterated NABTEB’s dedication to combating malpractice through collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and the introduction of innovative security measures.

Dr. Asanga also emphasized NABTEB’s role in promoting technical and vocational education, encouraging stakeholders to explore opportunities within this sector. NABTEB administers key assessments, including the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for Technical Colleges, the National Skills Qualification (NSQ), and the Modular Trade Certificate (MTC).

Additionally, NABTEB has begun issuing electronic certificates (e-certificates) for candidates from 2017 to 2022, facilitating easier digital access to results. The registrar urged candidates, parents, and guardians to engage in ongoing registration for the May/June 2025 in-school examinations.

The Federal Ministry of Education has approved a policy transition from Federal Science and Technical Colleges (FSTCs) to Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) to align with modern workforce demands. Asanga identified challenges such as funding, perception and stigma surrounding Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and curriculum, calling for appropriate funding and legislation.
