Abuja: Dr. Olufunso Ojo, a US-based Nigerian medical doctor, has received the Outstanding Georgia Citizen award for his contributions to medicine.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Certificate of Award was signed by Brad Raffensperger, the Secretary of State of Georgia, recognizing Ojo for his compassionate patient care and philanthropic leadership. A copy of the certificate and a proclamation by the Georgia State Senate highlighted Ojo’s expertise in internal medicine and his dedication to patient well-being.
The proclamation commended Ojo for setting a standard of excellence in medicine, inspiring colleagues and future healthcare professionals. He was acknowledged for community outreach and health education efforts aimed at improving the health of Georgians.
Ojo’s humanitarian contributions have addressed critical needs in healthcare, education, and social development locally and globally. The proclamation emphasized that his achievements bring pride to Georgia, showcasing compassion, skill, and perseverance in medicine.
A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ojo trained at the General Hospital, Akure, and served in the National Youth Service in 1997. He moved to the US for further training, including a residency at Morehouse School of Medicine and specialization in geriatric medicine at Emory University.
Ojo is affiliated with several professional bodies and currently serves as CEO of Mercy Internal Medicine Associates PC. His role in medical evaluation and peer review further underscores his leadership in the medical community.
