Abuja: Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has urged government at all levels to invest more in education and health. He made the call in his goodwill message at the traditional marriage of Mr. Peter Uwaezu and Precious Ante in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Precious is the daughter of Mr. Offong Ante, a strong member of the Obedient Movement. Obi, who was represented by Dr. Moses Paul, the Secretary-General of the Obedient Movement, emphasized that education and health play vital roles in the development of the country. He stressed the importance of concentrating on these sectors as well as the overall wellbeing of citizens.
Obi highlighted the need for the government to support the youth, women, and the less privileged. He also urged Nigerians to prioritize competence when selecting their leaders. "I will continue to speak to Nigerians to never relent, to continue standing and insisting on what is right," he stated.
Obi described Ante as his birthday mate and a key stakeholder in the Obedient Movement, which was his reason for attending the celebration. He praised Ante as a man of vision and purpose, wishing him long life, good health, and a sound mind.
In his remarks, Ante expressed gratitude to God for his 70th birthday coinciding with his daughter's traditional marriage. He thanked God for the successful ceremony. His wife, Joyce, echoed his sentiments, sharing her fulfillment in giving her daughter away in marriage and celebrating her husband's milestone birthday. She advised the couple to prioritize love and involve God in all their affairs.
Emmanuel, the first son of Ante, acknowledged the significant impact his father had on his children. The groom, Mr. Peter Uwaezu, expressed his gratitude to God for the joyous occasion, praying for the fulfillment of their hearts' desires.
