Mbeere north: As the campaigns gain momentum for the upcoming Mbeere North Constituency by-election, Chama Cha Kazi aspirant Duncan Mbui has appealed to government officials to maintain neutrality and allow the voters in the area to freely elect their next MP, without undue pressure or influence.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mbui claimed that some officials were using public resources to advance the political interests of one of the candidates in the constituency to influence the outcome of the by-election. The aspirant, however, assured residents that he was best placed to deliver fair and inclusive leadership and development, promising to prioritize projects that touch ordinary public lives.
Mbui alleged that some government officials in the past weeks had been traversing the constituency with a chopper and a fleet of fuel-guzzler vehicles, under the guise of touring government development projects, yet they were campaigning. “You cannot hire a chopper costing over Sh500,000 to deliver Sh300,000 National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) money to a school,” he remarked.
He said such extravagance was a waste of public resources and an insult to the people of Mbeere North, many of whom continue to suffer from poor infrastructure and limited access to essential services. Speaking during a campaign rally in Kanyuambora Town, Mbui further called for fairness, accusing his opponents of meddling in the by-election by rallying behind one of the candidates, instead of allowing voters to decide on their preferred choice.
“My focus will be service, fairness, and development, not politics of favoritism and misuse of public funds,” he assured.
