South-West PDP Congress Reinstates Ajisafe and 21 Other Executives Unopposed


Ibadan: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-West Congress has reinstated Mr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe as the South-West Zonal Chairman during an election held at the Theophilus Ogunwusi Hall, UCH, in Ibadan. The congress saw a unanimous decision as all 22 zonal executive members were elected unopposed.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the election also resulted in the appointment of Mr. Muyiwa Obagunwa as Zonal Secretary, Mr. Adeyemo Adetunji as Zonal Treasurer, and Mr. Yahaya Adeleke as Zonal Financial Secretary. Other key positions filled include Benson Adegbenro as Organising Secretary, Mrs. Bosede Adedibu as Zonal Women Leader, and Mr. Shefiu Adesina as Auditor.



During his acceptance speech, Ajisafe expressed his commitment to advancing the party’s agenda and called for unity and support from party leaders. He assured members that under his leadership, the PDP would secure more states in the South-West region.



Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who hosted the event, emphasized the importance of unity among party members for the progress of the PDP, noting that the successful zonal election would set a precedent for the upcoming national congress.



Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun praised the election’s success, highlighting it as evidence of the South-West PDP’s unity and urged other zones to follow suit. He commended the members for their dedication to the party amid past challenges.



The congress was attended by notable party figures, including Chief Olabode George and Chief Ladi Adebutu, the PDP candidate in the 2023 Ogun governorship election. The election was supervised by former Akwa Ibom State Governor Emmanuel Udom and was observed by representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
