Teachers’ Enrolment in NTI Rising Due to Innovations – Director

Kaduna: Prof. Sadiya Sani-Daura, Director/Chief Executive of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, has attributed the increasing enrollment of teachers at the institute to recent innovations implemented under her leadership.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sani-Daura highlighted in an interview that one of the notable changes was the replacement of the institute’s outdated server. Prior to her tenure, which began in November 2024, the institute faced significant challenges due to a 40-year-old server that had collapsed, leading to a backlog in exam results over three semesters and resulting in legal actions from aggrieved beneficiaries.

Sani-Daura explained that the server’s failure was inevitable due to its age, but the institute has since transitioned to a cloud-based server, which allowed for the retrieval and processing of essential data. This upgrade not only resolved previous grievances but also dismissed pending court cases. The improvements in data processing have contributed to the rising enrollment of students, as the institute has also managed to release a backlog of certificates necessary for qualified teachers.

She emphasized that NTI is strategically reclaiming its pivotal role in education, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The director also noted that the recent advancements have accelerated the issuance of certificates to qualified teachers across Nigeria.

Sani-Daura further shared additional progress made at the institute, such as the installation of solar systems at the Directorate and Liaison Office in Abuja. This initiative marks the first phase of NTI’s solar installation project, aimed at ensuring a constant power supply, which is critical for the institute’s operations.

The restructuring of the institute’s organogram to enhance transparency and accountability was another achievement under her leadership. Moreover, a standing committee for quality service delivery has been inaugurated to support the institute’s commitment to excellence in education.
