Abuja: President Bola Tinubu is set to personally inaugurate 10 out of the 17 projects outlined to celebrate his second year in office. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, announced this development after inspecting some of the projects in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the inauguration of the projects will commence on June 10 with the rehabilitated Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC) and continue until the end of the month. Wike revealed that along with President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima will commission three projects, Senate President Godswill Akpabio will inaugurate two projects, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives will also inaugurate two projects.
Wike highlighted that some of these projects would be located in the satellite towns, providing an opportunity for residents to witness the impact of governance from the federal level. He expressed that the residents would have the chance to see their president and national leaders in their communities for the first time.
The minister noted that the initial count of 19 projects was trimmed down to 17 due to time constraints, with plans for the remaining projects to be inaugurated later by the FCT Administration. Wike emphasized the importance of these projects in contributing to the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, underlining the satisfaction of the local populace with the federal initiatives.
Expressing gratitude towards President Tinubu, Wike praised his support and the collaboration with the legislative arm for the approval of budgets necessary for project implementation. Regarding the maintenance of the Abuja International Conference Centre, Wike stated that the facility would be managed by Julius Berger under his direct supervision to ensure proper upkeep, steering clear of past practices.
