Awka: Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s reforms are essential for addressing the longstanding distortions in Nigeria’s economy. Soludo shared his views during the March Past event marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day anniversary as a sovereign state.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Soludo praised President Tinubu’s bold national reforms, which include the removal of subsidies, harmonization of exchange rates, and redesign of fiscal and tax policies, among other structural adjustments. Soludo acknowledged that these changes might cause temporary disruptions and hardships but emphasized their importance as a corrective measure for an economy that has been superficially maintained over the years.
Soludo urged Nigerians to remain steadfast, highlighting that rebuilding the nation on a stronger foundation requires sacrifice. He envisioned a future where Nigeria’s currency strengthens, the economy becomes more productive, and resources benefit the broader population rather than a select few. He called on citizens to support the reforms and exhibit patriotism by adhering to laws and paying taxes, which he believes is a pathway to a more prosperous future.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s independence, Soludo described it as a beacon of hope, freedom, and potential for the Black race. He noted that the nation’s journey has been marked by both triumphs and challenges, yet the resilient spirit of Nigerians has persisted. Soludo also affirmed his commitment to investing in human capital development to prepare future generations for innovation, competition, and success.
