Borno: Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces operating under Operation Hadin Kai have restructured their strategies to address the recent rise in terrorist activities in Borno. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the troops have intensified surveillance, patrol, and ambush operations in various locations to prevent insurgent attacks.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, a visit to the Forward Operation Base (FOB) Tungushe, located in Konduga Local Government, and Molai in Jere Local Government Area, revealed the proactive stance of the troops. Lt.-Col. Christian Okupe, the Commanding Officer of the 212 Battalion, stated that the troops are motivated and focused on achieving victory in the war. Okupe emphasized that the primary mission of FOB Tungushe is to protect locals and ensure their safety while they engage in farming activities without fear of Boko Haram attacks.
Okupe urged media outlets to support the military in the ongoing fight against terrorism and called on the civilian population to avoid demoralizing the troops with uninformed social media comments. Capt. Kabiru Musa, the Commanding Officer of the FOB, highlighted their main tasks of defending civilians and assisting them in their daily activities, including providing cover during farming.
Community representative Mallam Baba Adamu, a Head Teacher, praised the military’s efforts in securing the community and enabling farming activities. He appealed to the government for assistance with potable water and to address the disturbances caused by herdsmen.

Yusuf noted that troops engaged and neutralized insurgents at a crossing point from Kumala to Sambisa forest, recovering six 105mm howitzer bombs.

He stated that the military’s actions have facilitated the government’s construction of 500 housing units in Dalwa for the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
