Some 394,822 children under five years of age were vaccinated against polio in the province of Bié, in the third phase that took place from the 6th to the 8th of this month.
The local authorities’ forecast pointed to 382,211 children, with the availability of 451,300 doses.
The information was given on Wednesday, to ANGOP, by the head of the department of public health and control of endemic diseases, Isaías Sambunga Cambissa.
According to the official, 568 teams were involved in this project, with a total of three thousand and 40 technicians, including advisors, coordinators, supervisors, registrars, mobilizers, data managers, logisticians and vaccinators.
He praised the involvement of traditional authorities and religious entities in mobilizing the population, given that the campaign was carried out door to door, in health units and outposts set up in neighborhoods.
