AFROBASKET2021: MANAGER TALKS POTENTIAL AND CAUTIONS WITH THE HOST

Luanda – The coach of the Angolan basketball team, Josep Clarós, underlined the need to make better use of the team’s physical-athletic potential in order to overcome opponents at Afrobasket2021, to be held next August, in Rwanda.

When analyzing the group from Angola, which includes the host team and DR Congo, the Spanish coach expressed to Radio 5 at the weekend, some fear for having to face the home team, admitting that this is a fact. cause for increased concern, without, however, neglecting the other competitors, in a series whose fourth member is yet to be defined.

He said he was aware of the opponents’ bet to win the competition and made reference to the fact that Rwanda has been evolving a lot recently, while the DRC has one player in the NBA and others playing in Spain and France, which makes them very competitive.

In his view, all opponents are strong, so he will seek to exploit the strengths of the athletes to the fullest and develop their work based on the sporting form of the players, once the national (championship and cup) and African (BAL) competitions have ended.

He said that the pre-Olympic tournament, to be held from 29 June to 4 July, in Lithuania, will serve as a stage of preparation and launch of the African championship, with the possibility of working on enhancing the group’s capabilities.

Angola integrates the series A with Rwanda, RDC and a selection that will leave the group E, between Morocco, Uganda and Cape Verde, which have not yet concluded the second qualification window due to the cases of Covid-19.
