Geingob hosts World Bank regional vice president

WINDHOEK: President Hage Geingob on Tuesday hosted World Bank Regional Vice-President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Dr Victoria Kwakwa at State House.

In a statement issued by the Presidency, Dr Kwakwa commended Namibia for its achievements since independence and recognised the shared challenge of unemployment across the African region.

She highlighted Namibia’s focus on green industrialisation as a promising path to job creation, emphasising domestic employment, local procurement and value addition to materials before exporting as effective solutions that would promote and increase equity in the country over time.

Dr Kwakwa furthermore articulated the World Bank’s preparedness for a partnership that aligns with Namibia’s needs and supports the implementation of the second pillar of the Harambee Prosperity Plan which centers on economic growth, industrialisation, job creation, poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
