In accordance with Section 6(8) of the Banking Act (Cap. 46:04) (Banking Act), the Bank of Botswana wishes to inform members of the public that, in line with the requirements, as enshrined in sections 6 and 8 of the Banking Act, Access Bank Botswana Limited has been granted a banking licence to transact commercial banking business in Botswana. This follows the acquisition of the majority of shares (78.15 percent) of African Banking Corporation Holdings Limited in African Banking Corporation of Botswana Limited (BancABC) by Access Bank PLC, a pan-African bank with headquarters in Nigeria. Accordingly, the public is advised that the bank currently known as BancABC shall henceforth be referred to as Access Bank Botswana Limited.
