NSA Pays Tribute to Late Chief of Army Staff as a Pillar of Nigerian Military.


ABUJA: The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has paid tribute to the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, recognizing him as one of the finest military officers in Nigeria’s history. During a condolence visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher, and the Acting COAS, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, at the Defence and Army Headquarters in Abuja, Ribadu expressed his deep condolences and respect for the late army chief.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ribadu commended Lagbaja’s dedication and integrity, highlighting his loyalty, commitment, and leadership qualities. He emphasized that Lagbaja’s love for his soldiers and his country was evident in his service, stating, “We lost one of our best because Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja was an incredible man.”

Ribadu also acknowledged the impact of Lagbaja’s passing on the Armed Forces and extended his condolences to President Bola Tinubu, describing the loss as profound and challenging. He expressed gratitude for Lagbaja’s life
and contributions to Nigeria, adding that prayers would continue for his family and loved ones.

During the visit, Ribadu was accompanied by Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka, the National Coordinator of the National Counter-terrorism Centre, and other senior officials from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). Meetings were held with both the Chief of Defence Staff and the Acting COAS, and Ribadu signed condolence registers at the Defence and Army Headquarters.
