Abuja: The President Bola Tinubu administration has vowed to eradicate the new terrorist group, Lukarawa, from Nigeria. This announcement was made by Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), during the 2024 Comptroller-General of Customs Conference held in Abuja. Ribadu, representing the President at the event, emphasized the progress made across various sectors since President Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the NSA expressed confidence in the government’s capacity to combat terrorism, stating, “We will chase the so-called Lukarawa out of our country. We’ll put critics to shame and shut their mouths in no time.” Ribadu also noted that Boko Haram, previously a significant threat, is now retreating to neighboring countries as Nigeria becomes less conducive for their operations.
Ribadu highlighted signs of economic recovery, mentioning increased crude oil production in the Niger Delta and fiscal reforms by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). “Crude oil pr
oduction has hit 1.8 million barrels per day, and the Central Bank has been sanitized. No one is taking a dime from the CBN. When we promised that we’ll fix this country, we will do so because President Tinubu has never been a failure,” he stated.
In a speech delivered by the NSA, President Tinubu outlined his clear and unwavering vision to strengthen Nigeria’s economic base, promising sustained growth and development. He stated that his administration has been focused on building upon existing foundations while adapting to evolving economic realities, emphasizing the importance of aligning economic policies with current global dynamics to better serve national interests.
The president commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for aligning with his vision, enhancing Nigeria’s trade-friendly position through strategic reforms. He noted that the conference theme, “NCS Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose,” aligns with his administration’s vision of fostering strategic partnerships and collabor
ative governance.
Tinubu highlighted the NCS’s success in revenue generation, which supports funding for critical national development projects. He affirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening integration into global value chains and strengthening its role as a reliable trading partner. “Our commitment to sustainable economic reforms, trade facilitation, and creating an enabling business environment is firm and irreversible,” he concluded.
