National Assembly Speaker Carolina Cerqueira Tuesday in Luanda discussed with the Angolan ambassador to Egypt the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), to be held in October this year in Luanda.
The Angolan diplomat brought a message from the leader of the House of Representatives of Egypt to Carolina Cerqueira, expressing recognition for the formal invitation to attend the major event, to be held in Luanda.
“We are pleased with the fact that we are among the first representatives of the Angolan State to receive the invitation from the National Assembly Speaker, Carolina Cerqueira, to her Egyptian counterpart,” he said.
Ambassador Nelson Cosme considered the symbolic move crucial for the strengthening of the inter-parliamentary corporation and the strengthening of the friendship ties between the two parliamentary institutions.
The 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is scheduled for October this year, in the country’s capital, Luanda.
The event, taking place under the theme “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, is expected to gathered about 1,400 parliamentarians from 172 countries and 150 speakers of parliaments from around the world.
