Surveyors Urged to Embrace Technological Advancements for Future Success


Abuja: Mr. Abuduganiyu Adebomehin, the Surveyor-General of the Federation, has made a compelling appeal to surveyors across the nation to embrace technological advancements in their professional duties. Addressing the 2024 Conference of the Zonal Directors and Chief Resident Surveyors (CRS) held in Abuja, Adebomehin emphasized the need for surveyors to adapt to the evolving geospatial ecosystem.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the conference, themed “The Future of Work: Adapting to Change in the Geospatial Ecosystem and the Public Service,” served as a platform for discourse on the integration of new technology in surveying practices. Adebomehin highlighted digital twin technology as a crucial development in mapping, urging surveyors to deepen their knowledge and assert their expertise in this area. He challenged the CRS and zonal directors to lead the charge in adapting to the future of work, which significantly differs from traditional methodologies taught in academic institutions.



Mr. Onyekwere Nwogu, Director of Infrastructure Surveys at the office of the Surveyor-General, echoed these sentiments by encouraging participants to explore strategies and techniques that will redefine their work. He stressed the importance of lifelong learning, embracing technological innovations, and maintaining a positive attitude towards work to transform challenges into opportunities.



Ms. Oluwaseun Falana, a keynote speaker at the conference, underscored the importance of collaboration and technological advancement in achieving success in the modern age. She pointed out that technology not only fosters innovation and accelerates problem-solving but also enhances overall efficiency. Falana also highlighted the role of digital transformation in minimizing time-consuming processes and urged participants to uphold diligence and professionalism to meet the demands of 21st-century technology.
