Abuja: Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, has passed away. The lawmaker, who represented Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun, died on January 15 following a brief illness, as stated by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Spokesman.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the deceased served as the Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development in the ninth Assembly and as Deputy Chief Whip in the 10th Assembly. President Tinubu expressed that she never stopped serving her constituency and her commitment to a better Nigeria will be remembered by those who had direct contact with her.
President Tinubu highlighted that Rep. Onanuga was a role model for women in politics, demonstrating that with hard work, integrity, and dedication to just causes, women can be effective leaders in politics. He extended his condolences to the Onanuga family, her loved ones, the government, and the people of Ogun State, especially her constituents in Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency.
The President also prayed for divine comfort for her family and all who mourn her while asking that her soul finds eternal rest.
