Lagos LG Distributes First Aid Boxes to Public Primary Schools

Lagos: Ms Surah Animashahun, Chairman of Epe Local Government in Lagos State, has initiated the distribution of 200 first aid boxes to public primary schools within the community. Animashahun, during the inauguration of this distribution in Epe, emphasized that this initiative aims to provide students with immediate access to first aid treatment before they are taken to hospitals for more comprehensive care.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Animashahun highlighted that students often engage in physical activities during play, making them susceptible to minor injuries. She explained that first aid is crucial for providing initial treatment and minimizing complications before professional medical attention can be sought. The chairman underscored the local council’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of school children by implementing proactive health measures.

Animashahun elaborated that the first aid boxes are stocked with essential supplies, including antiseptics, spirit, bandages, cotton wool, and gloves, which are necessary for immediate care. Additionally, health officers from the local government have been assigned to train school staff on the correct usage of these materials, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle minor injuries.

The initiative is part of a broader health and safety campaign in partnership with the local education authority. Animashahun urged school management and teachers to use the first aid equipment responsibly and ensure that the supplies are replenished as needed.

Mr Ayomide Ayeola, the Head Teacher of RCM Primary School, expressed his gratitude towards the local government council for this thoughtful initiative. He noted that the distribution of first aid boxes is both timely and advantageous as schools are resuming full academic activities.
